Geo Tag in iPhoto 09 with Precision
I have been reading a lot around the web about how you cannot geo tag your photos with any precision using iPhoto 09. I can assure you that you can geo tagging your photos with precision is easy if you know how. This tutorial will show you just that.
Launch iPhone and find the Event that has photos you want to geo tag. Roll your mouse over the photo and you will get a small information icon that shows up in the lower right corner.
Select the information icon on your thunbnail.

The following menu screen will be displayed.
Look where it says “Enter photo location” and click it to enter the closet city. It will start to actively searching as you type and provide you with a list to select from. You can’t enter an address like you would expect with Google Maps. Make your selection from the list. In my case I am looking for Huntington Beach, California.

The map has now centered to Hunting Beach, California. Great. This is where people are getting frustrated. The marker is centered on the city and not where I want it to be. I need it more accurate.
So let’s move the pin to the right location which in my case is on the wharf watching the surfers. Select the city entry again and select the New Place option.

This will provide you with a new window that will allow you to drag the pin to a more precise location.
Just grab the pin and move to your desired location.
Don’t forget you can zoom in/out and switch between Terrain/Satellite/Hybrid to get better positioning.
When you are done make sure you add in an image title and description.
Just click the Done button and you are all set. Precision positioning in iPhoto 09. Now you can upload to your flickr account and add to Pindropr or whatever else you do with your geo tagged photos.
